The new weapons of Sukhoi T-50 does not affect the stealth
Russian manufacturers have managed to equip the Sukhoi T-50 with a sophisticated set of missiles and bombs without altering the new stealth fighter plane, a feat that US manufacturers have failed to achieve.
In March 2015, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov told the newspaper Kommersant that the series production of the warplane fifth generation Sukhoi T-50, which was to begin in 2016, had been postponed until 2017. The initial plan, which provided for the purchase of 52 Sukhoi T-50 in 2020, it was reduced to 12 aircraft.
The tests on test bench motor Izdeliya 30 engine intended for His T-50 began in 2014 and flight tests will end in 2017. Until then, the prototypes of the Su T-50 will be equipped with engines Saturn AL41F1 (117S) the same used by the Su-35. Program development Su T-50 (PAK FA) seemed so frozen [1].
According to Russian military journal Zvezda, the program Su T-50 was never arrested. But parallel to the flight testing of prototypes, had to overcome the same obstacles that the Americans had encountered the F-22A and F-35. To the great surprise of the experts, these two US aircraft fifth generation were incompatible with most air-ground or air-sea large range used in aircraft weapons belonging to Generation 4 ++ and only some of these weapons could adapt to the F-22A and F-35, which limits the type of missions that could make those planes.
Due to the extremely limited surface reflectivity [offered to radar], fifth-generation aircraft are "invisible" to radar. One of the factors contributing to limit its reflectivity is the location of its weapons in internal compartments of the aircraft, rather than to locate them out of this. Given the fact that the space available within a multipurpose combat aircraft is very limited, it is not possible to create large internal compartments in such devices.
Given the mistakes of the US, Russian specialists developed or adapted especially for Su T-50, more than 14 different types of new high-precision weapons that are compatible with advanced avionics combat aircraft. The Su T-50 has 16 points for the carrying of weapons and 8 of them are installed in internal compartments. It has 2 main compartments internal, fully fairings and located one behind the other (between the bearings and motors), with dimensions of 4.6 x 1 meters each. At points where the wings are attached to the fuselage are other two smaller compartments. In other words, besides presenting superior results, the twin-engine Su T-50 has more internal capacity to transport weapons that the US twin-engine F-22A [available only] (2 internal compartments 3.9 x 0.9 meters).
Being a smaller single engine size, the F-35 has 2 smaller than the F-22 (about 3.6 x 0.6 meters), internal compartments fairings.
In the F-35B vertical takeoff and landing version compartments are smaller, but access to these fairings compartments is also difficult due to the frontal location of the engine with a thrust of 19 000 kgf, which balances the device.
When transporting the weapons in internal compartments, aircraft fifth generation can fly undetected by radar, allowing them to gain air supremacy creating safe corridors in the air defense enemy, runners can then be used by aircraft generation 4 ++ and bombers to neutralize ground targets. The main targets of the Su T-50 are warning AWACS aircraft, missile batteries and anti-aircraft carrier naval units of anti-aircraft missiles long range that protect coastlines.
To annihilate the guidance systems of land or naval anti-aircraft missiles, the Su T-50 has 4 anti-radar missiles Kh-58UShK, weighing 650 kilograms. The new missile Kh-58UShK is completely different from KH-58 and fly at Mach 3.5 and has a range of 260 kilometers.
Against naval targets, the Su T-50 can use 4 missiles X-35UE of 145 kg. The X-35UE is a subsonic cruise minimisil with a maximum flight distance of 260 kilometers.
4 Kh-31 missiles that were initially equip the Su T-50 have been replaced by four missiles X-74m2 600 kilograms. The X-74m2 missile reaches a speed of Mach 4, the range goes from 76 to 245 kilometers and carries out its approach phase to white (the last 50 kilometers) at low altitude to avoid detection.
The Su T-50 can carry 4 missiles Kh-38M compartments fairings. These missiles weigh 520 kilograms each carry a load and 250-280 kilos of explosive. Fly to Mach 2.2, with a range of 40 kilometers and can be guided radar systems, laser systems, infrared systems or by GPS coordinates.
To hit ground targets, the Su T-50 can carry 8 "smart" bombs KAB-250 or 4 bombs KAB-500. To hit the AWACS aircraft and shoot down enemy fighters, the Su T-50 has 4 missiles BVR ( "beyond-visual-range", that is "beyond visual range") K-77M type, with a radius of maximum range of 200 kilometers. For close air combat fighter aircraft, the Su T-50 also has other 2 missiles K-74m2, whose scope is 40 kilometers, emplaced in the 2 mini-internal compartments.
Drawing on its supports not fairings, the Su T-50 is capable of carrying the entire arsenal of missiles and bombs to existing aircraft Su-30SM and Su-35 belonging to Generation 4 ++.
