F1 2016: The Challenge Of Manor Racing is Survive and Score

To the Manor, the 2016 season F1 has two watchwords: survive and score. Apparently, none of the two goals will be easy for the British racing team meet.

First, the team will need to take care of the finances. Remember that the season 2015, still carrying the name of Marussia, began under judicial control and strong investor pressure. 30 million of the award of the season 2014 this time will not come and the financial crisis is always a ghost for small teams. Just take the example of compatriot Lotus, who will not race this season (instead, takes the partnership Renault).

The costs in F1 are not low and the sponsors are also not very generous, since the exhibition at the tail end grid is not very big. The team itself admits, on its official website, the strong desire to "get back on track - literally and figuratively - with solid planning and a sound investment."

To circumvent these difficulties, a good car is needed, something that did not happen last season. For 2016, the Williams is a partner to the gearbox and Mercedes, plus the engine also provides technical assistance, aid more than welcome. The design is completely new, unlike the previous one (in 2015, the team went with a 2014 model, "retreading").

In charge of the single-seaters, two young rookies: German Pascal Wehrlein and Indonesian Rio Haryanto.

Wehrlein is 21 and is the current champion of the DTM (German touring car). His experience in F1 comes down to pre-season pilot testing by Force India and Mercedes (which has in its pilot training program).

Haryanto is 23 and finished the GP2 season in 4th place, managed to win three of the twenty-two races. Like his teammate, he did nothing more than tests in the main category of motorsport.

Both drivers ran relatively well in the preseason. According to the journalist Livio Oricchio, both piloted over 300km without breaking in tests performed in Catalonia and this detail can give some hope to the Manor.

The biggest challenge this season is to survive in the category and, if all goes well, start any score. The 2016 Manor in the hands of Wehrlein and Haryanto, is more than uncertain. For those who like excitement, a full plate.
